St. John's Goes to Fall Camp
10/22/2026

Parishioners David and Jennie Isner and Val Tucker traveled to Shrine Mont for Fall Camp this month. Fall Camp is an adult conference sponsored by the Tri-Diocesan Council on Aging for over 40 years. It is a time to experience fellowship with other seniors, the beauty of God’s creation at Shrine Mont, your own spiritual journey in provided lectures and workshops, or in your own way. We are fed both by the Holy Spirit and by the delicious menus provided at our shared meals.
Fall Camp was held October 19-22 this year with The Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas, Canon Theologian at the National Cathedral in Washington DC, as our Keynote Speaker. She spoke on freedom and social justice in our world today. Her wisdom and guidance, gently given, holding the Bible and newspaper at the same time, were well received.
Music and devotional time were provided, as always, by Ed Kilbourne, an outstanding folk theologian. He teaches and communicates on our times through music and song. We joined in a session in the History of Stations of the Cross with readings and prayer at each of the 14 Stations. Fall Camp concluded this year with ‘An Order for The Holy Eucharist in the Celtic Tradition’, led by The Rt. Rev. Martin Townsend, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Easton, Maryland.
If you are interested in attending the 2027 Fall Camp—scheduled for October 18–21 at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, VA—contact any of these St. John’s parishioners or visit Shrine Mont's website for more.
