A prayer in celebration of Centreville Day, October 18, 2025. The day's theme was "Revolutionary Roots, Modern Branches," anticipating the 250th anniversary of American independence next year.
Holy One,
Who made us all in your image,
Who made us bearers of your peace and justice, your grace and love,
We come to you modern branches of revolutionary roots here in Centreville.
In those roots, our founders pledged to each other their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
Help us to renew that revolutionary pledge in these modern times.
May we always defend in celebration this wondrous, diverse, mutual life you've given to us.
May we each share in one another's good fortune and in the life you dream for us.
And may we stake our honor not on individual pride of place, our status or position, but on our service to one another, how we treat each other.
Bless this our time together that it may be a joyful sign of your peace and justice, your grace and love for a world in need.
